My considerable experience with a variety of students, educational institutions and qualifications (see the Career section below for details) makes me an effective tutor for both Economics and Business. I have taught A-Level, International Baccalaureate and GCSE/IGCSE Economics as well as A-Level, BTEC National and GCSE Business and have provided tuition to a number of private clients, mainly for Economics.
At present my standard fee for tuition in and around the Croydon area is £50 per hour but I am happy to work further afield (including central London), subject to negotiation of appropriate extra fees to cover travel time and cost.
Due to work and other commitments, I currently don't have any additional capacity for regular tuition during term time. If you would like to hire me for top-up or revision sessions during the school holidays, please get in touch via email (firstname.lastname@example.org), Twitter (@RobEarlEcon) or LinkedIn.
Teaching at several highly academic schools has also given me a great deal of experience in assisting students with UCAS applications and preparation for interviews at Oxford and Cambridge. As a result of this, I am able to offer the following services to private clients, with fees subject to negotiation dependent on individual needs. Again, if you are interested, do get in touch.
:: UCAS Personal Statement guidance, proof reading and refinement
:: Lessons in advanced topics such as introductory mathematical economics, game theory, indifference curves and budget constraints
:: Mock Oxbridge interviews for Economics, PPE, E&M and related courses with extended feedback and discussion
Sixth Form Economics and Business students are invited to follow me on Twitter (@RobEarlEcon) for regular news stories, case studies and exam tips. On that note, here is an appropriate place to point out that any and all opinions expressed on this site or via my Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn feeds are my own and are in no way affiliated with or representative of those of Trinity or any of the other schools at which I have worked.
I decided upon teaching as a career whilst studying Economics at University College, London. Having come to the realisation that I didn't want to follow most of my peers into an office environment where I'd be sitting at a desk for most of my life, I started looking for something more fulfilling and education certainly seemed to fit the bill. So, I took on a PGCE at the Institute of Education in London including training placements at Cator Park School in Beckenham and St Olave's in Orpington.
My first full-time teaching post was at Coulsdon College, where I taught A-Level Economics and A-Level and BTEC National Business. Next I moved on to Whitgift, where I stayed for three years before taking my first middle management role as Head of Economics at Tiffin Boys' School in Kingston. After two years finding my feet in a subject leadership role as well as developing their website I felt ready to take on a larger department, which brings us to my present position as Head of Economics & Business at Trinity School, Croydon.
